Florida cosmetology CE requirements for 2026

Group 2 licenses — the ones that expire in even-numbered years — are due October 31, 2026. Group 1 licenses are next due October 31, 2027.
The requirement
Florida cosmetologists, nail specialists, and full specialists need 10 hours of Board-approved CE per two-year renewal cycle, under Florida Administrative Code rule 61G5-32.001, unless an exemption applies. Licensees who have held an active license continuously for at least 10 years with no disciplinary action may qualify for a CE exemption (effective July 1, 2024) — check MyDBPR. The 10-hour requirement took effect February 6, 2020, replacing an earlier 16-hour requirement.

How it gets reported
Approved providers report completions to DBPR, which works with CE Broker. You do not self-report required CE.
Timing for a 2026 renewal
If you are Group 2, finish your CE by early October. Completions take time to post, and a completion reported a few days before October 31 may not show in MyDBPR in time.
Check your own record. Board rules and renewal details can change between cycles. Confirm your renewal date, CE status, and any exemption in MyDBPR at myfloridalicense.com before you rely on this page.
