Group 1 vs Group 2: Florida cosmetology renewal deadlines
Checked against the course text on 2026-09-22. Educational only; not legal advice.
Florida splits cosmetology and specialty licenses into two renewal groups. Both renew every two years, on October 31.
| Group | Expires | Next deadlines |
|---|---|---|
| Group 1 | October 31 of odd-numbered years | Oct 31, 2027 · Oct 31, 2029 |
| Group 2 | October 31 of even-numbered years | Oct 31, 2026 · Oct 31, 2028 |
Which group am I in?
Your group depends on when your license was first issued. You do not choose it. Look it up in MyDBPR or on your wall license — do not go by a friend’s or coworker’s date.
What both groups need
- 10 hours of Board-approved CE under FAC 61G5-32.001, reported by the provider (unless an exemption applies — licensees who have held an active license continuously for at least 10 years with no disciplinary action may qualify for a CE exemption (effective July 1, 2024) — check MyDBPR.)
- The renewal fee
- No disciplinary holds
Plan backwards from October 31
Provider reporting takes time to reach MyDBPR. Finish your CE at least 30 days before October 31. If your license lapses, you have up to one year to renew as delinquent; after that it is null and void.
Check your own record. Board rules and renewal details can change between cycles. Confirm your renewal date, CE status, and any exemption in MyDBPR at myfloridalicense.com before you rely on this page.
